Edward S. Platt has a diverse background in both academia and practical legal experience. With a J.D. from Columbia Law School and a B.A. in Computer Science from Amherst College, he has honed his skills in various legal settings. 

Professor Platt began his legal career at a prominent New York intellectual property law firm, working on trials and appeals for clients like Toyota, Volkswagen, and Teva Pharmaceuticals. After a few years, he left the private sector to serve in the Alaska Attorney General’s Office, where he worked on matters involving oil and gas taxation. Professor Platt has also worked as a law clerk and counsel to various judges around the United States and taught at universities in the U.S. and China, in subject matter ranging from legal writing to intellectual property.

He now works as a Global Professor of Practice in Law for the University of Arizona, teaching core US law courses to students at the Ocean University of China, and when time allows, at other University of Arizona Microcampuses.
