Education: B.A., Nanjing University; M.A., Ph.D., Harvard University

Xiao-huang Yin is Chair of the American Studies Department, Special Adviser to the President on Chinese Initiatives, and Co-PI for the Luce China-Environment Project at Occidental College. He is currently on leave to teach in China as a Fulbright Distinguished Chair Professor (2014-15). He has also served as Changjiang (Yangtze River) Research Professor at Nanjing University and the founding director of the Global Studies in the Arts & Humanities at Michigan State University.

Specializing in the Chinese/Asian American experience, U.S.-China relations and modern China, he is the author of Chinese American Literature since the 1850s (Illinois) and co-editor of the Expanding Roles of Chinese Americans in U.S.-China Relations (M.E. Sharpe).He is also a contributor to New Americans: Immigration to the United States since the 1960s (Harvard), The Oxford Encyclopedia of American Social History (Oxford), The Blackwell Companion to American Immigration (Blackwell), Chinese American Transnationalism (Temple), Diaspora Philanthropy and Equitable Development: Perspectives on China and India (Harvard), American Babel: Essays on Language, Immigration and Translation (Harvard), The Outlook of U.S.-China Relations (Hong Kong), and Multilingual America: Transnationalism, Ethnicity, and the Languages of American Literature (NYU) and many other books as well as journals/magazines such as American Quarterly, American Studies, American Periodicals, Arizona Quarterly, Journal of American-East Asian Relations, Atlantic Monthly, etc. In addition, he has published extensively in Chinese, including the bilingual version of The China Path to Economic Transition and Development (edited & trans., Higher Education Press, Beijing) and An Anthology of Global and Transnational Studies (co-edited, Nanjing University Press).

富布赖特（Fulbright）专家在教育部指定的中国大学里教授一至两个学期的美国学方面的课程，包括法律、美国历史、美国文学、政治学、公共卫生以及哲学等。
