On the afternoon of September 5, there came the 2019 Student Selection Seminar of Academy of the Future Ocean of Ocean University of China in Laoshan campus. Professor Liu Qinyu, the dean of AFO, and Ma Kun, the executive vice dean attended the meeting.

At the beginning of the conference, professor Liu Qinyu delivered a speech, introduced the development history of OCU’s ocean subjects and the idea of talent training in AFO, and stated the academic tenets and the talent training goals. Setting the aim to cultivate leaders of China’s ocean science and technic academic, and the world-class top scientists, the academy endeavors to achieve subject connection and deep science-education integration.

During the part of addressing, Ma Kun elaborately introduced AFO to students from three aspects: its founding background, talent training characteristics, and the selection work in 2019. In the introduction, Ma Kun pointed out that the academy engages in curriculum building with the principle of “ foundation consolidating, connection emphasizing, advancement seeking, and innovation pursuing”. Adopting the question-oriented instruction pattern, the academy inspires students to improve the ability to solve problems in the course of studying different subjects. Ma Kun gave detailed instructions about 2019 AFO’s students selection, like application conditions, selection scale, and selection procedure, etc.
