Research Interests

Global low-latitude equatorial currents bifurcations

Dynamics of low-latitude western boundary currents

Observations of multi-scale oceanic processes

Kuroshio Extension observation system

Mobile platforms development and applications in ocean observation

Achievements

  • Discovered the long term shift of the North Equatorial Current bifurcation latitude and its response to global warming

  • Improved  the dynamics of global equatorial current bifurcation on seasonal  time-scales and established a uniform theoretical model;

  • Building the Kuroshio Extension observation system as the chief scientist
