On November 10th, the second meeting of the Joint Management Committee of the sino-foreign cooperative educational institution of Ocean University of China and University of Adelaide (Haide College) was held. Vice President of Ocean University of China Professor Liu YongProfessor Wang Jianmin, Vice President of University of Adelaide Dr. Jessica GallagherProfessor Suzanne Le Mire attended the meeting.

  

In his opening remarks, Professor Liu Yong addressed that after more than two years of construction and development, Haide College has made great achievements in all aspects of its work, which not only benefits from the continuous deepening and expansion of the cooperation between the two universities, but also lays a solid foundation for the continuous development of Haide College. We look forward to sincere cooperation and collaborative innovation, gathering excellent teachers, cultivating international innovative talents, conducting academic exchanges and cooperative research in order to achieve common support, mutual promotion and overall improvement in team building, teaching, scientific research, etc., and create high-level sino-foreign cooperative institution and international cooperation models. He stressed that Ocean University of China will continue to support the development of Haide College, strengthen communication, deepen cooperation and work together to contribute to the construction and development of Haide College. It is expected that in the future, all parties can further take advantage of the superior resources of the two universities to promote the high-quality development of Haide College.

  

In her opening remarks, Dr. Jessica Gallagher thanked Ocean University of China and AEMG Group for their strong support in academic, teaching and student management. She said that in September this year, University of Adelaide welcomed the first batch of undergraduate students under the 2+2 training mode of Haide College, which is another important achievement of the cooperation between the two universities. University of Adelaide will provide necessary support to guarantee that they would enjoy their study and life in the new environment, and hopes that more students will study in University of Adelaide in the future. She stressed that the success of Haide College has proved the sincere partnership between the two universities. She expressed hope that both parties will actively cooperate and work closely to provide excellent growth opportunities for students through Haide College and lay a solid foundation for their future career development.

  

Professor Wang Min, Dean of Haide College, introduced the operation of Haide College in terms of admission, teaching, campus life, scientific research, future planning, etc. She said that since the establishment of the college, with everyone's attention and support, the quality of students has been steadily improved, the teaching staff has been growing, the number and quality of introduced courses has been continuously enhanced, and students' campus activities have been colorful. The college will strive to cultivate students to be innovative talents with an international perspective who would make positive contributions to human progress and world development. It is hoped that both parties will work closely together to achieve greater breakthroughs in terms of innovative cultivation models, strengthening scientific research cooperation, and promoting foreign teachers to teach in China, etc.

  

Professor Scott Smith, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology of University of Adelaide, and Associate Professor Ding Boyin, Haide College Academic Director of University of Adelaide, respectively introduced the leadership and organizational structure update, epidemic prevention and control, education and teaching as well as the situation of students' study and life in University of Adelaide under the 2+2 training mode. They highly appraised the learning ability and comprehensive quality of Haide College students. They said that they would further optimize students' learning experience, expand international vision and provide a guarantee for training high-quality talents.

  

At the meeting, relevant representatives reported on the adjustment of the members of the Joint Management Committee, the progress of cooperation matters proposed at the first meeting, the status of teaching in China and the training of professional teachers to University of Adelaide.

  

Wang Jing, Executive Director of AEMG Group, congratulated all on the second meeting of the Joint Management Committee. She said that Haide College is the crystallization of the deepening cooperation between the two universities. She believes that with the joint efforts of everyone, there will be more fruitful results in the future. Welcome more students to study and live in Australia.
