III. Research Domains

1. General

lSedimentary dynamics, physical oceanography, ocean engineering environment

2. Application

lIt is of great scientific significance to study the sedimentary impact of the “source to sink” and environmental evolution in the EastChinaSeas. The fine sediment can strongly attenuatelight and thus modifie the bio-optical climate of the water column and reduces marine primary productivity. Suspended sediment can also be recognized as a carrier of material, carbon and nutrient. Thus the result of sediment distribution, transport and its mechasim will be widely applied to material exchange, carbon cycling, eco-environment and etc..

3. Recent interests

lSedimentary environment change in the JiaozhouBay response to the coastline change and human Activities

lYellow River and YangzeRiver discharged sediments transport and its mechanism

lSedimentary dynamic mechanism of the muddy depositions in the EastChinaSeas

lNumerical technology development for sedimentary dynamics
