The Consultation Meeting of Student Selection Successfully Held by AFO in 2021

On June 10th 2021, the consultation meeting of student selection was held by Academy of the Future Ocean (AFO) in the College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences, Room 412. The meeting was attended by Professor Li Jianping, Dean of the AFO, Makun, vice-dean of the AFO, professor Gan Bolan, student representatives Ni Xinning, Zhang ruize and more than 50 junior students. 

Professor Li Jianping first introduced the Academy of the Future Ocean from four aspects: the mission of the AFO, the disciplinary background, the running characteristics of the academy and the admission requirements. According to Professor Li, the mission and original aspiration of the AFO is to train high-level talents to promote the building of a strong marine power and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The core educational idea of the AFO is to promote interdisciplinary research and to cultivate interdisciplinary talents to realize the country’s self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology.  

Professor Li further introduced the running characteristics and the admission requirements of AFO. It is an ideal place for students to pursue and realize their academic aspirations and the application to the academy is always welcomed. Professor Li later communicated with students at the meeting, answering their questions and making further explanations. Consultation meetings will also be held in the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and the College of marine geosciences this month, welcoming more students to join AFO. The academy will always work hard to cultivate high-level innovative talents with interdisciplinary background in order to realize the building of a strong marine power and the Belt and Road Initiative.
