On June 6, 2019, the founding seminar of the Academy of the Future Ocean(AFO) held at Laoshan Campus of Ocean University of China(OUC). Prof. Zhao Meixun, Prof. Chen Ge, Prof. Lin Xiaopei, Prof. Wei Zhiqiang, Prof. Tian Jiwei, Prof. Jiang Xiaodian, Prof. Xing Huilin, Prof. Zhang Xiaohua, Prof. Chen Chaohui, from Instute for Advanced Ocean Study(IAOS), Prof. Liu Qinyu, the Dean of AFO, Pang Hongtao, deputy president of IASO, Ma Kun, deputy president of AFO, attended the seminar. Prof. liu and Pang hosted this seminar.

In the beginning, Professor Liu introduced the basic information and development plans of AFO. During the seminar, the Professors combined their own experience and experience in guiding graduate students, and expressed their understanding and views on the curriculum, student selection, development planning, etc., and pointed out that the interdisciplinary research and education combination in the field of marine science and technology graduate was the important training aspects. And they put forward some practical opinions and suggestions for the problems which there may need to be faced and solved in the early stage of the construction.

For this seminar, it is promoted the integration of academic ideas and cultivation processes. It will promote the AFO to become the world-class top talent training base for marine science and technology. It will provide the innovative talents of science and technology to supporting the "The Belt and Road", marine power dreams for China and other national strategies.
