    报告摘要:

This lecture will provide an overview of interdisciplinary studies programs, a prominent feature of higher education in the United States in the twenty-first century. Special attention will be given to interdisciplinary programs offered at St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota, where the speaker is Associate Dean for Interdisciplinary and General Studies and Director of the Center for Integrative Studies. The presentation will review different models for interdisciplinary studies and consider evidence about the impact of these approaches on student learning and development. Interdisciplinary studies are an essential part of the liberal arts curriculum; they engage students in thinking both deeply and broadly, providing opportunities to integrate knowledge and skills across multiple disciplines to understand and address problems in today’s complex, interconnected world.
